Federal Requirement 4.8. Distance and Correspondence Education
An institution that offers distance or correspondence education documents each of the following:
4.8.3. Notification of Charges
Has a written procedure distributed at the time of registration or enrollment that notifies students of any projected additional student charges associated with verification of student identity.
Currently, the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USF Sarasota-Manatee) does not charge students for the incremental costs associated with verifying the identity of students enrolled in distance education courses. However, USF System Policy 10-066 (2H), Identity Verification of Distance Education Students, stipulates that, in the event incremental costs are charged to students in the future, the information on the additional fees shall be provided to students at the time of enrollment in the course or program, and the process for accomplishing this will be established as a procedure. The procedure will include the current practice of posting student fees along with course information in USF Sarasota-Manatee’s Schedule of Classes. Additional information on distance learning programs is provided in Comprehensive Standard 3.13.4a (Policy Compliance).
