Federal Requirement 4.3: Publication of Policies
The institution makes available to students and the public current academic calendars, grading policies, and refund policies.
The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USF Sarasota-Manatee) makes available to students and the public current academic calendars, grading policies, and refund policies.
Florida Board of Governors Regulation 8.001 requires all state universities to operate according to a uniform calendar structure that includes the number of classroom days and term start dates. USF Sarasota-Manatee follows the USF System academic calendar which is created by the USF Office of the Registrar and reviewed and approved by the Provost and the USF System Faculty Senate. Following approval, the calendar is made available in the Academic Catalog and on the Registrar’s Website. Links to these resources are conveniently available on the Student Page of the USF Sarasota-Manatee website.
The Schedule of Classes for fall, spring, and summer semesters for all campuses are available through the Online Access Student Information System (OASIS) Schedule Search page. The OASIS Website contains other Important Announcements with semester-specific student information, including final exam schedules; schedule of classes; registration and fee payments; policies, procedures, and important dates; and student privacy rights. The academic calendar is also published in the Student Handbook.
General USF System grading policies are available to students in the Academic Catalog. Additionally, Academic Council provides guidance to faculty on items to include in syllabi (Academic Council Minutes – February 9, 2015; Academic Council Minutes – May 12, 2015; Syllabus Template 2015-16), including clear information on how the faculty award grades. Students and the public can access USF Sarasota-Manatee’s Course Syllabi Webpage through the USF Sarasota-Manatee website. The website contains the syllabi for all courses offered at USF Sarasota-Manatee by semester (Examples using the Syllabus Template 2014-15: Differentiating Instruction for Exceptional and Diverse Students, Principles of Finance, Principles of Information Security, and Research Methods in Psychology).
Two USF System Policies direct student refunds. USF System Policy 4.0101 outlines authorized refunds of tuition and fees. USF System Policy 10-013 outlines USF System policy toward the refund and repayment of financial aid received by students. These policies are available in the Academic Catalog, in addition to being posted to the General Counsel Website.
